Prepare
For more information on how to prepare, access FEMA's website. It is Up to You
You may need to survive on your own after an emergency. This means having your own food, water and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last your family for at least 72 hours. Local officials and relief workers will respond after a disaster but they cannot reach everyone immediately and will be inundated with requests. You could get help in hours, or it might take days. Additionally, basic services such as electricity, gas, water, sewage treatment and telephones may be cut off for days or even weeks. Every household should have supply kit containing items to help your family manage during these outages.

Be Informed
Arizona Emergency Information Network
The Arizona Emergency Information Network (AzEIN) is the State of Arizona's official source for emergency updates, preparedness and hazard information, and related resources.
Community Emergency Notification System (CENS)
CENS is the Community Emergency Notification System. The system is designed to rapidly notify an affected area of an emergency by sending a recorded message through the telephone system. CENS uses the 911 database to extract phone numbers determined by the circle or area drawn on the CENS map. CENS launches a prerecorded message to the telephone numbers in the area defined.
Additional Information
In addition to finding out about your community’s plan, it is important that you know what plans are in place for your workplace, your children’s school or daycare center and any places you frequent like entertainment and sporting events, recreation areas, shopping centers and places of worship. Ask your employer about workplace policies regarding disasters and emergencies, including understanding how you will be provided emergency and warning information, evacuation and shelter plans if impacted on the job site.
