Who do I call if a vicious dog is roaming the streets?


Contact Maricopa County Animal Control at 602-506-7387 (602-506-PETS). Be prepared to give your name, address, phone number, where you can be reached, and the closest crossroad streets where you noticed the animal roaming. It is helpful if you can identify the breed, color and size of dog or any information which will assist the Sheriff ’s Office in locating the animal. If the dog is attacking, call 911.

Who do I call about stray dogs?


Contact Maricopa County Animal Control at 602-506-7387 (602-506-PETS). The dog must be contained in your backyard, garage, or an enclosed or fenced-in area. Be prepared to give your name, address, and a phone number where you can be reached. It is helpful if you can identify the breed, color and size of dog, if it has an identification collar, or any information which will assist Animal Control.

Will Animal Control pick up stray cats?


Cats are in the category of “free roaming,” and Animal Control will not pick up a cat unless it is rabid or attacking. Animal Rescue/EAMT™ will accept or rescue stray cats and dogs of any age that are sick, injured or abused on any day of the week. Please call the EAMT™ Dispatch Center at 602-997-7585 Ext. 2073 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Who do I call to report an injured animal?


To request an ambulance for a sick or injured stray animal or an animal in distress, call Animal Rescue/EAMT™ (Emergency Animal Medical Technicians) at 602-997-7585 ext. 2073. Services are free and available daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Have you ever seen a frightened stray dog dodging traffic? A cat stuck in a vending machine? Or maybe you suspect a case of animal cruelty nearby? These are the kinds of situations for the EAMTs™. Suggestion: place this number in your cell phone for easy access when traveling.

How do I surrender a pet?


Bringing your pet to the Arizona Humane Society shelter should always be your last resort. If you are unable to re-home your pet on your own, here are the guidelines for surrendering your pet to the shelter:
  • By state law, the shelter cannot take in healthy, stray dogs over four months of age. Instead, you must surrender him/her to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control at 602-506-7387.
  • Animal Rescue/EAMT™ will accept or rescue stray dogs of any age that are sick, injured or abused on any day of the week. Please call the EAMT™Dispatch Center at 602-997-7585 Ext. 2073 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • The Animal Rescue/EAMT™ accepts stray cats, healthy or otherwise of any age.
As an owner, you can surrender your pet by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled by contacting the Pet Resource Center at 602-977-7585, option 3. The Admissions Department at the Sunnyslope location is open between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. There is a surrendering fee of $60 for a single animal and $75 for litters. How do I report a lost or found pet?


You can place an ad in the local paper, inform neighbors, and anyone else who you believe may be of assistance in locating your pet or the pet’s owner. Permits are not issued for posting signage of lost or found pets. Any illegal sign posting within the City of Litchfield Park proper may result in a citation.
