Bringing your pet to the Arizona Humane Society shelter should always be your last resort. If you are unable to re-home your pet on your own, here are the guidelines for surrendering your pet to the shelter:

• By state law, the shelter cannot take in healthy, stray dogs over four months of age. Instead, you must surrender him/her to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control at 602-506-7387.
• Animal Rescue/EAMT™ will accept or rescue stray dogs of any age that are sick, injured or abused on any day of the week. Please call the EAMT™Dispatch Center at 602-997-7585 Ext. 2073 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
• The Animal Rescue/EAMT™ accepts stray cats, healthy or otherwise of any age.

As an owner, you can surrender your pet by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled by contacting the Pet Resource Center at 602-977-7585, option 3. The Admissions Department at the Sunnyslope location is open between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. There is a surrendering fee of $60 for a single animal and $75 for litters. How do I report a lost or found pet?

You can place an ad in the local paper, inform neighbors, and anyone else who you believe may be of assistance in locating your pet or the pet’s owner. Permits are not issued for posting signage of lost or found pets. Any illegal sign posting within the City of Litchfield Park proper may result in a citation.
