Candidate filing deadline was July 10, 2023 at 5:00 PM. for the November 7, 2023 Election. During this election, the voters will be asked 'Should the City move forward with the formation of a Charter City?' If so, the voters will need to elect 14 candidates to become the Board of Freeholders, who will be charged with forming the Charter. If the voters do not approve the formation of the Charter, all efforts to proceed will cease.
There were eighteen (18) candidates who filed to have their name on the November 7, 2023 ballot. You may watch the lot draw here.

Once the Board of Freeholders has been elected, they will work on forming the Charter, which will then be presented to the voters for the March 12, 2024 special election. A publicity pamphlet will be included with the November 7 ballot and mailed to each household with a registered voter to provide more information.
