The City of Litchfield Park is working diligently with Waste Management to have things run smoothly for our residents. We are sorry for those of you who are experiencing difficulties and frustration with the recent changes, and we understand your concerns. We want to try to be as informative as we can and offer all the details that we have regarding Waste Management:
PER WASTE MANAGEMENT AS OF AUGUST 28, 2023:
NEW DAYS FOR REFUSE AND RECYCLE: PLEASE SEE MAPS BELOW
- Litchfield Park: Between Litchfield Road and Dysart Road – Recycle will now be on Thursdays. Refuse will now be on Mondays and Thursdays.
- Litchfield Greens and the Village at Litchfield Park: Recycle will now be on Mondays. Refuse will be on Mondays and Thursdays.
AS OF JULY 1, 2023:
- Residential refuse customers will pay the following rates:
- $24.83 (per-month) for rolling-can customers
- $44.93 (per-month) for in-ground customers
- Rolling-can customers will see a rate decrease from current rates, while in-ground customers will see a rate increase from current rates. Manual emptying of in-ground cans takes three times the amount of time to service versus the automated emptying of rolling-cans. The in-ground customer rates will now reflect the additional time and labor charges associated with servicing them. Customers choosing to switch from in-ground to rolling cans will be provided with new containers free of charge from WM upon request.
- Customers may also choose to have two refuse containers instead of one refuse and one recycle. WM will swap recycling containers for an additional trash container at no cost.
- WM will continue to provide twice a week garbage service and once a week recycling service on the current collection schedule.
- All rolling-can customers must use WM-provided containers, either 96 gallon or 65 gallon wheeled cans. Either size is the same price monthly. Other size cans or individually owned cans will not be serviced. (This does not apply to in-ground customers.)
Citizens may request additional refuse or recycling cans for an additional fee through WM.
BULK PICKUP:
Bulk pickup is available for all Litchfield Park residents on their last trash pick-up day of the month, up to 6 times per year, per house, upon customer request and scheduling through WM. Bulk pick up is a maximum amount of three (3) items per scheduled pick up. WM will no longer be driving around the city looking for bulk items to be picked up. Bulk pickup is at the end of every month just has it has been in the past, however, it does need to be scheduled through WM by either calling (888) 964-9780 or scheduled on their website at https://www.wm.com/us/en. If you have more than three (3) items, there is a fee for each additional item. Items must be bundled solid waste that does not exceed 4' x 4' x 2' and must be acceptable materials. Including appliances without Freon, furniture, box springs, mattresses (queen or smaller and must be wrapped in plastic and sealed with duct tape) carpet cut and bundled into 4' sections, yard waste bundled into 4' lengths.
LANDFILL OPTION:
If you do have more than three (3) items, and you would like to prevent an additional charge, or if you have used all 6 scheduled bulk pickups, Waste Management has also offered for only our Litchfield Park residents to go to the White Tank Transfer Station located at 18605 W. McDowell Road, Goodyear, AZ 85338. Here they will allow two (2) additional dumps of up to three (3) large bulk items per year at no additional cost, that fall within the bulk item criteria. To do this they will ask that you provide a current utility bill and a current driver’s license to the scale house (the utility bill address and the driver’s license address must match). Anything more than three (3) additional bulk items would be $40.00 per item. Any loose material/debris (i.e., bags of trash) will be charged by the ton per posted gate rate. Please also keep in mind that LARGE BULK ITEMS shall mean residential appliances, furniture, box springs, mattresses, carpet cut into four-foot lengths, yard and tree clippings bundled in four foot or less lengths. Such materials may include furniture (no sleeper sofas), carpet (cut and bundled), mattresses (queen or smaller). They cannot accept refrigerators or other CFC/Freon containing appliances. “WM reserves the right to accept and/or deny any load that does not meet the above criteria.” Waste management’s prices are subject to change. Please feel free to call and verify with them directly at (623) 853-1707.
